Job Title: Construction Estimator – Government Projects (Asphalt & Concrete)

Location: Denver, Colorado

Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site or Hybrid

Pay: $80,000 annually with commissions

Job Overview

We are actively seeking a seasoned Construction Estimator with a focused background in asphalt and concrete work for federal, state, and local government contracts. The ideal candidate is proficient in identifying bid opportunities using BidNet, preparing competitive cost estimates, and navigating the nuances of public-sector procurement. Your expertise will directly support our mission to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and track bidding opportunities using BidNet and other bid sourcing platforms
  • Analyze project specifications and blueprints for asphalt paving, milling, striping, concrete flatwork, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and related scopes
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor inputs
  • Prepare and submit bid packages aligned with agency requirements, timelines, and documentation standards
  • Collaborate with operations, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure accurate pricing and availability
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess field conditions and logistics
  • Maintain updated cost data, unit pricing, and historical bid records specific to asphalt and concrete scopes
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, DBE requirements, and other government bidding stipulations
  • Track post-bid results and analyze outcomes to improve future strategies

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years experience in construction estimating focused on asphalt and concrete bidding for government contracts
  • Demonstrated experience using BidNet to source and manage public-sector bid opportunities
  • Knowledge of DOT specifications, municipal standards, and agency contracting procedures
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g. BidNet, Bluebeam, Excel, RSMeans)
  • Strong understanding of unit pricing, production rates, and cost analysis for civil scopes
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with multiple active bids and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior estimating experience with DOT, DPW, or local municipalities
  • Familiarity with traffic control, ADA compliance, and environmental requirements related to paving projects
  • Experience with government bidding in Colorado or similar jurisdictions
